It was another miserable weekend for Ellon Gordon Cricket Club which suffered its fourth Grade 1 defeat in a row.
It wasn’t only a defeat rather a tanking losing by ten wickets to Knight Riders.
Ellon batted first and only succeeded in scoring 71 thanks mainly due to a knock of 44 by skipper Ben Webb.
In fact they were 17 for 6 at one stage so things could have been a lot worse.
Knightriders in reply soon knocked off the runs without the loss of a wicket thus leaving Ellon rooted to the bottom of Grade 1.
Things were so bad last weekend, with 19 people not being available, that the club was once again not able to consider trying to raise a second team.
They also had to scratch their Challenge Cup game against Victoria from Glasgow last Sunday, the team they beat in the 2011 final, as they only had a handful of players available.
It is hoped that players will become more available as the season progresses otherwise the chances of a 2nd team playing a game are getting slimmer and slimmer by the week.
