Garioch girls turn out for elite Scottish gymnastics teams

Garioch Gymnast Izzy Tolometti competed for Scotland at the international competition ‘The Celtic Cup’ in Wales on Saturday, April 25.

Izzy was selected for the Celtic Cup Scottish Junior team following a fantastic performance at the Scottish Championships that placed her in the runner-up position in her first year as a Senior at this event.

The pressure was on this year with Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man all fielding strong teams but the Scottish team fought off tough competition from Ireland to win the Silver medal, just behind Wales.

Individually, Izzy performed a new Bar Routine which saw her achieve a personal best on this piece and an individual Silver medal.

Garioch coach, Cathy Osborne was also in Wales as the Celtic Cup Scottish Team Manager.

The weekend of the April 25 and 26, also saw two of Garioch’s youngest elite gymnasts travel to Stoke for the British Compulsory 4 Finals.

Isi Mason (9) from Leslie and Rebecca-Ann Greig (9) from Alford were selected for the Scottish team following the Scottish Regional qualifier earlier in April.

Rebecca qualified fifth and was the reserve for the Scottish team while Isi qualified in first place, a position in the team she maintained at the British Final.

Whilst the Scottish team did not finish amongst the medals the Garioch club are very proud of the team and the part the Garioch Glitter Girls paid in it.

The girls were accompanied by their personal coach, Jen Swan.
