Medal haul for Ellon club

Aberdeenshire Blackbelt Clubs had a successful day of competition on Saturday in the North East Challenge Cup at Aberdeen Sports Village.

The Ellon-based Taekwon-Do club came away with eight medals and finished eighth in the overall medal table.

The event was attended by more than three hundred competitors from across the UK.

Representing Aberdeenshire Blackbelt Clubs were: Rico Campins, Bill Chilton, Sol Chilton, Angus Christie, Jessica Low, Kayleigh Mankin and Barney Willetts.

Medals were as follows: Rico Campins: Gold – Sparring (15-17 years), Kayleigh Mankin: Gold – Sparring (15-17 years), Gold – Patterns (15-17 years).

Bill Chilton: Gold – Sparring (40+ years), Silver – Power Test (18 + years), Silver – Patterns (18+ years).

Barney Willets: Gold – Sparring (7-11 years).

Jessica Low: Bronze – Patterns (up to 7 years).

Next month two young club members, Rico Campins and Kayleigh Mankin, will be representing Scotland in the 2019 European Championships held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
