As Ythan CC’s cyclo-cross riders headed south to Bo’ness to end their off road season, the clubs’s standout duathlete of 2015, Karolyn Brown, was heading even further south as she took part in the Anglian Water Duathlon in Cambridgeshire, writes Malcolm Grant.

On a tough course affected by strong winds, Brown showed that she had carried over her form from last year as she finished third female and won her age group. Despite it only being February, Brown’s efforts ensured that she has qualified for the Duathlon ETU Standard Distance Championships in 2017.

Chris Main, Russell Craig and Craig MacBeath made the trip to Bo’ness for the “Dig In at the Dock” which was the fourth round of the Super Quaich Cyclo Cross series.

Apart from a strong wind coming in off the Forth, the weather held out and the course was running extremely fast compared to the mud-affected courses of the last few races.

Craig produced his best ride of the winter to finish seventh in the support race, while McBeath also rode well to finish in 67th.

The Elite race followed and was won by Harry Johnston (Pro Vision) with Main finishing in 42nd.
