With the road racing bikes tucked away for the winter, Ythan CC had several riders taking part in round two of the Ridley Scottish Cyclo Cross Series at Strathclyde Park last weekend.
In the senior event, Russell Craig and Andy Scouller lined up against some of the country’s best cross riders and for the second week in a row the pace was rapid and was being set by top Scottish rider Rab Wardell who comfortably claimed victory. Craig and Scouller both rode well, in a race that saw a number retirements, to finish 26th and 43rd respectively.
The veterans race saw Malcolm Cooper and Kevin Gault take on the course and despite a crash Cooper, finished 36th while Gault took 50th place, a great ride against a field of 106 competitiors.
Callum Cooper, riding in the youth race, kept the family name in the results by again producing a fine performance against the 50-strong field to claim 11th place.
