The annual Collieston Gala is set to return next weekend and organisers are looking for volunteers to help out.
The main Gala day is Saturday, July 29 but there is a great line-up of events before the big day.
A pre-Gala work party will meet this Saturday (July 22) at 11.30am to put up the marquee and bunting ahead of the Gala week, and there is jobs for ages and abilities.
This will be followed by a raffle and tombola collection on Monday, July 24 from 6.30pm, with any donations to be given to Trish Davidson, Charles Esson or Nora Harper.
The Gala fun week begins with Boules on Wednesday, July 26 from 6.30pm at the Bouledrome.
Entry is £5 per team of three to four people, and there will also be a licenced bar.
Children’s Boules will be held the following day from 11am at the Bouledrome and entry is free.
Later in the day Freeze Company, Ellon Resource Centre’s drama group, will perform local legend, Forvie’s Curse, from 1-2.30pm in the hall or marquee.
Tea and cakes will be served after the performance.
A fancy dress parade will follow at 6pm in Forvie Court.
Thursday night is also Wild West Night, starting at 7pm, entry is £3 for adults and free for children.
There will be a rodeo bull and sharpshooters from Tranquility Wild West Town Western Music & Song.
A quiz and disco will be held on Friday, July 28 at the marquee.
The quiz will start at 7.45pm (entry £3 adults).
The main Gala day on Saturday will begin with a sandcastle competition, with judging to begin at 11.30am on the beach.
The Gala itself will run from 1-4pm and there will be a BBQ, beer tent, cake and candy, white elephant, tombola, plants, books, RNLI, face painting, raffle, coastguards, Udny Designs, Bob’s Buddies Owls and teas served from the CORC shed.
The Peterhead Lifeboat and some of its crew is also due to attend.
A ceilidh with the Broadbay Ceilidh Band will run from 8pm to midnight with entry at £5 for adults and £1 for children.
There will be a morning church service on Sunday, July 30 at 11.15am in the marquee, followed by a post Gala work party at 1.30pm.
There is a volunteer list in Smuggler’s Cone showing where help is needed and any offers of help will be welcomed.
