Collieston gets ready for big day

Collieston is preparing for its annual gala on Saturday, August 1.

The popular event will run from 1-4pm and will be preceded by a sandcastle competition at 11.30am.

Various stalls will be set up in the community hall at 11am.

Collieston Offshore Rowing Club will host racing from 10am until 4.30pm with skiffs joining the Admiral Redsocks.

A village supper with an inviting menu will get under way at 5.30 for 6pm. Tickets from Pam Cooper until Thursday, July 30.

Broadbay Ceilidh Band will entertain from 8pm to midnight. The cost is £5 for adults, concessions £3, under 16s £1 and under 5s free.

In the run-up to gala day, a dog show will be held on Tuesday at 2pm in the marquee field, a boules event is on Wednesday at 6.30pm in the Bouledrome, primary children’s boules at 11am on Thursday with family night entertainment starting at 6.30pm.

Friday will see a fancy dress parade at Forvie Court at 6.30pm and a quiz starting at 7.45pm followed by a disco in the marquee.

All gala day proceeds will go to Slains and Collieston Community Council for the benefit of the local community.
