The Ellon Cinema team have announced that they have a very special opera screening that will be held next month.
The team will be reaching out to all fans of classical opera in the area on Friday, October 20, with the screening of Carmen that was captured live at the Teatro Dell’opera Di Roma during their summer season this year.
Carmen deals with the love and jealousy of naïve soldier Don José who’s lured away from his beloved by the gypsy factory-girl Carmen, whom he allows to escape from custody.
Staged by Argentine director Valentina Carrasco, this is a modern interpretation performed in the enchanting setting of the Terme di Caracalla in Rome, the archaeological site of the Roman Baths where a unique theatrical stage comes to life.
There will be special arrangements for the night featuring a cabaret-style layout of tables and seating, and the normal refreshment service for the evening will be supplemented by a full bar service provided by local Ellon team ‘Bar Stars’ to allow opera goers on the night to enjoy a favourite drink both before acts 1 and 2 and during the 30 minute break.
Tickets for the screening are priced at £10 or £8 for concessions.
Those interested in going along can purchase tickets online at www.victoriahallellon.co.uk/cinema.
The screening will begin at 7.30pm and doors will open up to an hour beforehand.
The Victoria Hall is the home of Ellon Cinema, which is run entirely by volunteers.
The Hall is equipped with its own cinema quality (DCI) digital projector, file server and a 5.1 surround sound system featuring a Dolby CP750 sound processor to allow the screening of recent releases from DCP files only a few weeks after initial release at the main cinemas.
Ellon Cinema has recently upgraded the balcony area by installing an acoustic enclosure for the projector equipment, installing carpeting and 29 new theatre seats.
