ELLON enjoyed one its most successful Gala days in years on Sunday when a large crowd filled Gordon Park to bask in the warm sunshine, while taking part in a busy programme of events.
The emphasis was on fun, although the many stalls on display were making money for their charity and other organisations.
Others looked to the future, not least the organisers of “Gig at the Brig”, the group who will be providing the Hogmanay bonanza for the town this year. Sandy McDougall, chairman of Ellon Community Council, praised organisers Ellon Round Table.
He said: “They have done a wonderful job of co-ordinating the day. The scale of the organisation is also immense. It’s also good to see the huge turnout of stallholders, but most of all having the public here has made it a great day.”
Local resident Morag Scott said: “It was a great way to spend a Sunday.
“There was something for everyone.
“It brought back all kinds of memories for me. It just proves there is still life in Ellon.
“I thought days like this were a thing of the past in the town.”
