Aden Country Park in Mintlaw is to host its first ever Rural Heritage Fair.
The event will celebrate the local culture and farming traditions unique to Aberdeenshire, illustrating what life was like for country people in the past and how it has shaped Aberdeenshire’s countryside today.
The fair will include traditional music and performance, craft demonstrations, storytelling, family history, photographic display, archive film footage, farmers market, access to the Aberdeenshire Farming Museum, and a range of heritage related displays, stalls, and activities that will provide a rich and diverse event attracting tourists and the local community to Aden Country Park.
The local academy and primary school children are also embarking on a range of projects to explore their local rural life culture and traditions that will be showcased to the broader community at the Fair.
Projects will include artwork, stories, poetry, music, and performance that relate to the traditions and achievements that characterise their local community.
The Rural Life Heritage Fair, which runs from 11am to 4pm, is being organised to coincide with the Buchan Feeling Good Festival, Mother’s Day Country Fair, and the Aden Bike Challenge, a cycling event from Peterhead to Aden Country Park.
So why not head to Aden Country Park and not only learn about your heritage, but have an enjoyable day out for the whole family in the heart of Buchan, a good time is guaranteed!
