Local dance fans have been learning some of the iconic moves from sensational stage show Dirty Dancing at His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen.
The record-breaking sensation returns for a four-week run at the city theatre on September 8 and at a launch last week 35 students from various dance schools, were put through their paces by the production’s associate choreographer Glenn Wilkinson, alongside professional dancers Lisa Welham and Albey Brooks.
The dance schools who took part included Academy Street Dance School, Aberdeen Academy of Performing Arts, The Space Dundee, Scottish School of Contemporary Dance and Sharon Gill Dance.
And the man behind the phenomenal theatre tour, producer Karl Sydow, was also there to give the inside story on the stage version of the blockbusting 1987 movie starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.
Seen by millions, the worldwide smash-hit tells the classic trite-of-passage story of Baby and Johnny, two fiercely independent young spirits from different worlds, who come together in what will be the most challenging and triumphant summer of their lives.
The fastest selling show in West End history, the passionate love story features unforgettable numbers such as Hungry Eyes, Hey! Baby, Do You Love Me? and the heart-stopping (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.
