Theatre fans will enjoy a treat later this month when Ellon’s Victoria Hall hosts a live theatre touring company performance.

The Victoria Hall management committee will be welcoming Rocket Theatre Company on Saturday, November 15, with their production of Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime.

The event has been organised by Ellon Academy student and Victoria Hall drama champion, Mairi Davidson.

Mairi said: “We are delighted to have Rocket Theatre join us as our first adult live show booked through NEAT (North East Arts Touring).

“We are hoping for good support on the night as we know that this is going to be a very amusing production which will be delivered to us live in Ellon.”

The two-man play has been adapted from Oscar Wilde’s short mystery story by performer Martin Harris, and tells a gripping tale of love, honour, duty, fortune-telling and murder.

Lord Arthur takes his marriage vows very seriously, but when he has his fortune told just weeks before the wedding, his destiny simply cannot be ignored and he has to fulfil his duty.

The show has received excellent reviews including What’s On Stage rating it highly, stating “Martin Harris’s script, written for just two characters, has wisely kept many of Wilde’s unforgettable lines.

The result is a hilariously funny black comedy… a cracking production of a witty play, which brings pace and energy to the piece.”

With doors opening at 7.30 for an 8pm start, the play runs at 1 hour 30 minutes, with an half-time interval.

Tickets are priced £9/£7 concession available at J&K shoes, Ellon, Chocolate Bar or online at

Tickets will also be available at the door on the night, depending on availability.
