The Ythan Singers will presenting a concert, “the Musical Landscape”, in Ellon’s Kirk Centre on Friday, June 7, at 7.30pm.
It will feature songs old and new and feature aspects of the countryside and seaside.
The programme includes old favourites such as “All Things Bright and Beautiful”, “Linden Lea” and “The Ash Grove” and modern songs such as the haunting “Seal Lullaby” written in 2008.
The Singers have invited Nicola Auchnie, a leading local violinist, to play. Nicola comes from a farming family near Turriff, and began studying violin at the age of eight.
She studied music at the University of Aberdeen and graduated with a Bachelor of Music with Education (hons) degree in 2009, as well as gaining a diploma in performance (DipABRSM) from the Associated Board for the Royal Schools of Music. The violinist has successfully competed throughout Scotland.
The concert will be conducted by the choir’s musical director Morag Paton and accompanied by Rosemary Lund. Profits will be donated to Grampian Leukaemia Research.
