Aberdeen students normally choose to go out on a Wednesday night.

A North-east science centre is now offering a free silent disco once a month.

Satrosphere Science Centre started its first event last night, allowing students the chance to get dressed up and the dance the night away at a free silent disco.

From 7pm, students can head along for a truly unique night.

Grab a student friendly priced drink, and get dancing!

As well as music, there will be live comedy sketches from Aberdeen’s only improvisation group, Wildly Unprepared, and live science experiments using common household items that you can impress your friends with back at student halls!

Satrosphere Science Centre project manager, Chris Mark, said: “This is a brand new idea for Satrosphere, and a unique event to Aberdeen! We hope our students will get on board for a night out truly like no other! It’s completely free, drinks are very affordable and you can meet and socialise with other students, it is the perfect way to start their night out!”

The next free monthly events are on November 27 and December 18 from 7pm to 10pm.

Upcoming events will feature pub quizzes, debates, live music, expert talks, instruments to try yourself and lots more!

Students also have the opportunity to get involved in hosting their own talk or show, anyone interested should get in touch on 01224 640340 or

Find them on Facebook and Twitter (@satrospheresci). Students are required to show their student ID on arrival.
