One of the Sugababes is set to star in a musical making its way to His Majesty’s Theatre this spring.
Actress, Jade Ewen, who has also competed in the Eurovision Song Contest, is to star in the Rod Stewart musical Tonight’s the Night, after extending her role in the UK tour.
She will continue to play the part of Dee Dee until May 31 and will perform in Aberdeen along with Ricky Rojas who takes over the role of Stone from April 26.
Most known as a member of girl-band Sugababes, Jade has also represented the UK at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, performing the Andrew Lloyd Webber penned It’s My Time, achieving fifth place, making her the most successful UK act on the show since 2002.
Jade’s stage credits include playing Young Nala in The Lion King and Curly in Whistle Down the Wind. Her TV apperances range from Casualty, The Bill, Steffi and Splash!
Ricky’s stage credits include Strictly Confidential, Burn the Floor, Flashdance (Shaftsbury Theatre), Grease (UK Tour), Pirates of Penzance and Joseph (Aldelphi Theatre).
Tonight’s the Night also stars Ben Heathcote (Mamma Mia!, Three Musketeers), Jenna Lee-James (We Will Rock You, Joseph), Tiffany Graves (We Will Rock You, Sweet Charity), Andy Rees (Legally Blonde, A Chorus Line), and Craig Mather (Les Miserables).
The musical comedy, inspired by Rod Stewart hits, launched its new tour at Manchester’s Palace Theatre in January and continues until August.
The all-singing, all-dancing feel-good show premiered in the West End in 2003 and went on to secure sold-out theatres across the country.
Tonight’s the Night boasts spectacular staging, a world class band, dazzling choreography and over 20 classic Rod Stewart hits like Hot Legs, Baby Jane, Do Ya Think I’m Sexy, Maggie May, This Old Heart of Mine, I Don’t Wanna Talk About It, Ooh La La, Some Guys Have All the Luck, Forever Young, Sailing and of course the title track.
