Formartine is hosting a leading artist’s first solo exhibition in Scotland for three years.
Catriona Millar’s work has opened at Tolquhon Gallery, near Tarves, and will be on view until Sunday, June 21.
Catriona studied at Aberdeen’s Gray’s School of Art as a mature student.
Her degree show in 2005 was a huge success with all her work being sold out within hours.
She was ranked by a national newspaper as one of the top five collectable Scottish artists and her work is admired and collected throughout Europe, the Far East, Australia and America.
In 2012, Catriona moved from Udny Green to East Sussex where her work has found a whole new audience. She now exhibits regularly in London, Devon and Bath and her work is published by Canns Down Press and Art Cards.
Catriona paints people using strong colour and pattern, which makes her work appealing to all ages.
Joan Ross, of Tolquhon Gallery, said: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to mount this exciting exhibition at Tolquhon and we are looking forward to a very busy few weeks.
“We were disappointed when Catriona moved away as we always enjoyed showing her work.
“She had her last solo exhibition with us just before she moved and it was one of our best ever, so we are delighted to welcome her back.”
Tolquhon Gallery holds six to eight exhibitions each year.
